Last week, BGMA was extended an incredible opportunity to join Kadima Ventures, KohR Motorsports, and Roush Performance for the IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge at 24 Hours of Daytona in beautiful Daytona Beach, Florida.
As if attending the race wasn’t enough, Jade Buford, a driver of their No. 59 car, in partnership with Kadima and KohR, placed the BGMA logo on their killer Mustang GT4 for the race. It was amazing to see Jade race past the stands with our logo on the front panel on both sides of the car. BGMA is grateful to Jade, Kadima Ventures, and KohR Motorsports for generously including our brand on their car.
We love the Mustang, and BGMA was THRILLED at the opportunity to be a part of this amazing team, car and race.
The icing on the cake was watching Ford/Chip Ganassi defend its GT Le Mans title in the Ford GT. They led all but 9 of the 783 laps completed.
The race reminds us of our commitment to exposing young people to the opportunities for careers in motorsports, and to the joy and thrill of the industry. Historically, racing has been viewed as a rich man’s sport – a hobby for the wealthy and the privileged. BGMA is changing that paradigm and opening the doors to a new and diverse generation of builders who are excited by the science, engineering, artistry, precision, and excitement of motorsports. The BGMA curriculum, and the experiential nature of our classrooms and activities is inspiring young people and sharing with them the attainability of careers in the sport. We are creating a nation of builders.
Huge thanks to Jade, Mike Hall, and everyone at Kadima Ventures, Roush, and KohR for making this possible, and thanks also to Tony Aportela and Jose Reyes, our BGMA mentors from Georgia Tech and University of Georgia Athens, for joining us at the race.
Let's continue to give these kids the tools and the confidence they need to succeed now and in the future.
